Timberland shoes and boots were born to be worn by all international lifestyles. In 1918, in a small Boston shoe company, Founder Nathan Swartz began as an apprentice leather cutting, seam stitching shoemaker using nothing but his own two hands. All of the waterproof shoes and gear that we take for granted now had to come from somewhere. In fact, the .60s turned out to be a cornerstone for Timberland footwear. The Swartz family introduced injection-molding technology to the footwear industry. They brilliantly fused soles to their leather uppers without stitching, creating one of the first truly waterproof boots. In 1973, they came up with their name, "Timberland", as the original brand for the waterproof boot. After buying The Abington Shoe Company, and eventually adding his sons to the company, the Swartz. family company launched in Italy, and progressed into an international market that began selling Timberland clothing and women.s footwear. 1998 was the year Timberland launched their PRO series of "Workboots for the Professional" based on strength for your day, and like all other Timberland boots and apparel, dependability, comfort, and style. |
